NATO Takes Over in Southern Afghanistan
Read this It would be nice to see some other NATO countries there but I won't hold my breath! While do I get the feeling that it's the start of a very long and bloody conflict, just look at the history of the region, paticulary our abysmal record there(The Afghans hoofed us three times in the nineteenth century!)And the Soviet Union was brought to its knees by these "Primitive mountain men" who have been fighting continual guerila warfare for over two hundred years-I think they're quite good at it now! Let's face it,We haven't got a hope in hell unless we commit a lot more troops, and the "Politburo" or the British public won't allow that!(By a lot more- the mountanous terrain could absorb the entire British Army and you wouldn't know they were there!)We should pull out now and let them sort out their own problems before more British lives are lost on a "Forlorn Hope"!
