Book review-Pegasus Bridge and The Pegasus Diaries

Read this Excellent book telling the true story of the first engagement of D-Day,the capture of "Pegasus" and "Horsa" Bridges,by D Company,2nd Battalion,Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. It takes you through the year long training leading up to the glider-borne assault on the two bridges over the Caen Canal and the River Orne that,if unsuccessful, could have resulted in Hitler's "Armoured reserve" smashing the right flank of the invasion force and possibly the failure of D-Day itself!-A true "Boy's own" adventure story made all the more remarkable by the fact that it all actually happened!-It's of special interest to me because it is also one of the proudest battle honours of my own regiment,The Royal Green Jackets, which the Ox and Bucks involved into. For even greater detail of the action read the actual diary of the commanding Officer of D Company,John Howard in The Pegasus Diaries, who gives an in depth account of the training and the battle,I couldn't put either book down!
